Woooo new car turns up tomorrow

After the poxy M32 gearbox picked up the dreaded bearings problem in the Astra VXR, we've had a hire car. A 1.4 16v astra in the same shape. So we've gone from the top of the range, to one of the **** ends of the range. My word, its slow. Its ok for zipping about town, but on the motorway, 4000rpm, 80mph it screeaaaammmms. Its also horrible to overtake anything, and its got no umph so when you go uphill in 5th (oh yeah, 5 speed box, I didn't even think cars still came with 5 speed these days), it needs 4th, but then not much happens still.

Been waiting 3 months for a new Audi S3 to turn up. So from 237bhp, down to a poxy 90bhp, and soon back up to 265bhp....

All of which are still slower than my bandit to 100, and much slower that Nelli. Even top end, as the Audi has a 155 limiter Bloody panzer wagons.

Im looking forward to it, none of you lot will care, but im excited. Power and comfort again. And also half the fuel economy. But after driving the 1.4, i've decided that the economy saving isn't worth the fun and power saving. No wonder so many people are miserable in the morning driving these kinda cars. Its absolutly no fun, slow, noisey, and inspires depression.

I've got a 1.3cdti corsa 69bhp - even less power than my sv!

Enjoy the new car They sound pretty good the S3. Decent engine in quite a small-sized car so should have a bit of go (for a car ). Have fun!

I had an Astra 1.4 pretend sporty as a hire car last week. It is the WORST car I've driven in years. Forget the crap performance, I just could not get comfortable, the seat and its positioning, the climate gubbins, the visibility, all conspired to make me glad to hand the damn thing back pronto.

Cars are secretly great! I just bought my first Golf, and I'm kind of enjoying being comfortable, warm, listening to loud music etc. Fast cars are a different sensation to bikes really, I think due to the seating position. That S3 should be great fun, I think I'd love a fast car if it wasn't for the fact there are so many traffic jams everywhere .

A few months ago I had a go in a Focus RS Puma racing 370 bhp! It was totally nuts, just spun up and juddered in 1st and 2nd, waaay too much power through the front, but it didn't half make my heart race!

Driving around in a new shape crappy 1.6d Golf at the moment. Picked it up from NationalHireCar 6 weeks ago with 580 on the clock and its now got over 8000, I dont think they are going to be impressed.

Jumping from a 90hp golf to 177hp bmw. I can't wait for the slippery winter for some reason this year :P

LOL I had a Astra SRI hire car for 2 weeks before, insisting on a diesel hire car. I was getting 34mpg everywhere. It was nice inside compared to the golf but terrible engine and handling.
