Default ADSL Filters

What are good reliable makes of adsl filters? And are there different speed ratings or anything?

We've been having a lot of trouble just now with our BT home hub losing internet at random times and when the phone is picked up. Swapped the filter that the hub was connected to and that fixed it. But we just ordered a film via sky box office and it knocked the internet off again. So now it looks like that filter is dodgy too

Ideally I'd get the faceplate ones but we are trying to move house so there's not much point installing them in this house. So it would just be the normal plug in type. We would need 4

Cheers

Since we started using this pish homehub. It was fine with my old linksys router. But it completely died and couldn't get on broadband at all. So had to start using this one that's been in the attic for a few years

Don't think we have call waiting

Might be that the actual phone line in the house is knackerd.

Our AOl router kept dropping off, so the BT guy came round, did a few tests and replaced the internal line in the house.

Can you hear noise on the line when you pick the phone up before you dial. He had a speaker on the gizmo he was testing the line with, so you could hear it.

Cost £80 though, as it wasn't a fault

Improved things no end, but swapping from AOL to Sky was better

Do you have any extensions going to other rooms? Do they have filters in them too?

House is only a few years old so wiring should be ok. Can't hear anything on the phone

Darren are your phones cordless?

That normally causes mayhem with ADSL connections

Just for a few days, try disconnecting your extensions at your main socket, and see how you get on.

Of course the drop outs may be your ISP, or your router, and nothing to do with your wiring. Your ISP will never admit to it, they'll just blame something outside of their control, such as your wiring, sometimes it's up to you to prove it and badger them into fixing it.

The phone is wireless and it was definitely that interfering. As soon as I picked it up the router lost internet. I swapped the routers filter and it was fine after that

I had to put the wireless router and the main cordless phone in different rooms. Not the easiest thing when they are both supposed to be connected directly into the master socket. Actually, neither of them are -the master socket is in the sodding loft!!
