Thought I'd start the bike up today as its been sat for a few weeks in the garage.
When I pushed it outside I noticed it was pretty heavy, but figured the brakes had rusted a bit or something. Anyways I went to drive it back into the garage and as soon as I put it into gear it lurched and stalled. I then couldn't get it back into neutral. I fiddled with the clutch cable at the lever a bit and got it to go back into neutral but when I tried again it just did the same. Anyone got any thoughts? Is it because its cold and its been standing? Is it related to it being heavy to push? Does the clutch need more adjusting or something? It was fine before I stopped riding it about 6 weeks ago. Thanks, was a bit disappointed today as the weather was lovely ![]() |

Either-----Its cutting out when you put it in gear because the sidestand is down,or more likely from what you say the clutch is dragging and it is stopping with a jolt as the gear engages. If so you need to adjust the clutch properly down at the sprocket end.

Kk thanks I'll give that a go (or rather find someone to do it for me!)
Could the cold / standing have done that do you reckon? |

If it feels like the sidestand issue but the stand is up,it may be the cut out switch is crudded up.Try giving it a clean or pushing the sidestand right up to make sure it activates the switch.

The sidestand switch wouldn't cause the bike to lurch forward - that symptom points to a sticking/dragging clutch.

Adjust your clutch at the worm drive.
