Default Time for new tyres, I think.

Oops, I've been faffing around looking for a better deal on tyres than my local dealers were offering, and thought I had a few miles left before I had to bite the bullet. However, a sticky front brake must have accelerated the wear on my rear. I think forcing the bike on for a few miles until the front brake stopped binding caused accelerated wear on the rear as I hardly use the rear brake under normal conditions.

This is a Michelin Pilot Road 2. I think they were great tyres, but close to the end of their life, both the front and rear developed unusual profiles - the front is V shaped and the rear is a bit squared off from commuting, and a bit /-\ on the sides where the two compounds have worn unevenly.

I get a good feeling from knowing I've well and truly had my money's worth out of them. Both front and rear have done over 13k. They've been more interesting to ride on since the tread disappeared

Maybe next time, they don't stock them locally and I needed to get some today, so I've gone for more of the same.

I'm interested in the storm ST2s but I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get the same mileage out of them, as I saw people in other threads talking around 8k out of a rear.

Yeah, interesting in the way that they skipped about like crazy when filtering down the white lines and the seams between the motorway lanes and when I chucked it into corners it was sliding a bit, then gripping well once it got onto the less-worn part near the edge of the tyres - made my commute a bit more of a supermoto-style experience

I've never had the heart to try Bridgestones again since experiencing all the cr*p tyres they used to fit on 1970s-90s Jap bikes.

However... if some kindly Bridgestone rep would let me test a set on a demo bike or a track day, my faith might be restored .
