My previously gleaming Viper can is getting a bit tarnished looking. I haven't had the old girl out at all over the winter, but I still have spots of something appearing and spreading on the can. I tried some Halfords chrome and aluminium cleaner on it but it made no discernable difference.
It's the chrome can I'm talking about - the downpipe I gave up on last year ![]() What do you do to get your chrome back to showroom spec? Any tips please? |

Autosol, patience, a beer, something slightly entertaining on the telly, patience and a rag.
I got a grubby can on eBay and must've spent 4 hours on it. Looks better than new now! (took nasty stickers off it too). Ultimately though if rust has gone through the chrome you won't get it back. |

Autosol to get the bad stuff off. The can I spoke about earlier is titanium which has a dull finish. If you just polish, polish, polish it takes off the poo and then use some brake cleaner or solvent to get rid of fingerprints or water marks. Titanium's a bugger to keep clean. |

Get Kwak round for a brew & show him your pipe. Just leave some Autosol & wire wool lying around by the bike & hey presto, clean exhaust
![]() Seriously, if you use a lot of elbow grease & Autosol, your exhaust will look like new. Put Autosol on wire wool to attack the downpipe & you will be amazed how good it can look.
