I'm no expert, but I suspect the more powerful horns will need a relay because the horn switch isn't rated for high currents.

Loud usually means more current so a relay is advisable, not difficult to do if you've got the basic tools and the knowhow or someone to show you
The Nautilus I had on my old SV was incredibly loud, but it does take some hiding in the fairings - Magnum isn't quite as loud but is more compact

Nautilus = Definitely fit a relay
Magnum = Safer to fit one With a relay the horn will be louder as well, because the smaller gauge cable can restrict the current flow to the horn

I think that the magnum or a single motrax don't need a relay, However, if you use somthing like twin FIAMMs, then you do. its fairly simple even for a northerner like yourself.

Pair of Fiams from Halfords comes with a relay in the box. Use the old horn supply to drive the relay, then it's one wire from live supply to relay the two from relay to horns. Simples and V. Loud.
