Default wrong chain

Went for a chain & sprocket set today and they didnt have the full set in stock, so just got the front sprocket and chain and said would grab a rear from another local place.

Wanted a middling DID x-ring (525 110) vm2? - with a 15t 45t listed at 89.99 in DK as the 'recommended upgrade'. Asked specifically for it but it got bagged up and handed to me and looking now its a DID50vx (530 112) - gold&black i did notice the 112 and go back and he said fine to just grind & remove which is a tad more work but didnt notice its a 530...

Right chain? wrong chain? Never heard of a 530 going on but dont know what difference it will make?

Grateful for advice

Default Re: wrong chain

the last number is the amount of links and a few to many isn't a major problem as they can just be chopped off, however the first number is to do with pitch/weight, the higher the number the bigger/beefier the chain will be, a number of racers will down grade to a 520 setup to save weight, or for something like a superduke/speedtriple it'll come standard with a 530.

it is possible to fit either a 520 or a 530 to an SV, but you'll need both sprockets and chain matched (as in all have to be the same number), but I wouldn't bother, take it back he's sold you the wrong one, the sv was designed for a 525 and that's what you should be fitting.

Cheers Mark.
