Well the engine has been stripped

and its all good

The pistons still look as new, the valves are perfect, its been burning very well. No wear on the main bearings either but will have new bits anyway as its apart.

The barrel is being skimmed and the head is being worked on for some more ponies and better gas flow as those exhaust ports need a tweak. The ECU has been tweaked to allow the bike to rev more..my gearing charts show a theretical increase of 6mph..mm to 152 mph...i will be asking for the speed trap to be run at Snett to see whether this is close or not.

Overall very pleased and am awaiting my nice new Arrow exhaust system to test to see how it runs with that. Will post some dyno runs when its all built.

It's almost disappointing when you do that- take something to bits and it's all fine. "Aargh, could have left it alone" Though not as dissapointing as leaving it alone and finding out it's fallen to bits on day one of the next season

Steve does the build, dialing in cams and set up. Bob Farnham does the machining work for us.

I know what you mean Northwind. Although its better to be sure!. As its an ongoing project until the bike gets sold its handy to know how things bear up with use.

Got four engine refreshes on the go at the moment for Powerbike riders..the workshop looks like an operating theatre at the moment

SV650Racer - What power does Bob reckon he can attain?!!? Has he got much/any precedent on the SV to give you an idea?

He is using mine as a project. He obviously knows the ins and outs of the pinciples of tuning so he's not a bad choice for the project!. Dont want to put a figure onto it at the moment, we will see once its on the dyno.

Indeed, his CV is more than adequate for the task

But tuning can be expensive ... £700 for 20bhp might be considered worthwhile ... however £700 for 2bhp may not if that is all that can be reasonably expected!

If he is using yours as a project does this mean he is doing it for freebies?!!? For freebies I'd have even 1hp!!!!

What is your aspirations HP wise??

Aspirations...to get another 5bhp and better response and torque. I am not too worried about overall BHP as i am restricted to 88bhp (on the dynopro dyno - about 95 on a dynojet) anyway due to the weight/power limits of the class although its achievable. I am looking mainly for better response and a better torque/HP curve.

Here, I need a race fairing for #2 ... do you know of any ones that will fit a curvy knocking about in someone shed??? I don't care what condition it is in (i.e. if i need to get at it with the fiberglass) as long as it is all there and CHEAP

This place do new ones for £107 ... don't do SV ones, but everything else (GSXR, ZX etc etc)

I dont know of anyone off hand. The GSXR1000K3 bodykits i understand fit the curvy, have seen plenty in minitwins using them. Might well be worth a look.
