Default Fitting braided hoses

I need new lines on my 98 CBR600F but am not happy fitting them myself so i've just phoned my two local bike shops to get prices, the first quoted 3 hours labour (£120 + parts) and the second quoted half an hour (total £100)

Rather a large difference!!

I dont want to go with the first if they're taking the pi$$, but I dont want to go with the second if they are then going to say it took much longer and end up paying triple the amount quoted.

Which seems the most likely, 30 minutes or 3 hours??

3hrs for purely replacing hoses is excessive. I'd have thought they would have quoted 30min / 1hr.

Took me out an hour and a half including bleeding etc front and rear.

A bike shop should be able to do it much quicker than that

Should charge max 1 hour for it (and thats doing it without a mitivac).
The cost should be around £120 parts and labour

A good mechanic can strip, clean, rebuild and bleed the SV brakes in 90 minutes

As said above, just changing the lines and bleeding is a quick job and it's all accessible. Make sure they do you the two-line setup with a double banjo at the top (one line down each fork leg), instead of using the splitter as the stock set up (3 lines = more money). You've already got a double banjo bolt, it'll be on the splitter at the moment, so the only parts are lines, copper washers, and fluid.

Sorry Johnnyrod, but there is no banjo bolt in the OEM splitter, he will need to get one and it should be provided with the brake line kit along with new copper crush washers.

I cant see it taking long to be fair, 3 hours seems excessive even if all 3 calipers get a strip/clean while he's at it.

There was one in the curvy set up, but I have no idea about the CBR.

That’s what a google-fu spat out, I can’t say I have ever paid that much attention to my mates CBR but if it already has a double banjo bolt then I apologise for leading things astray. It could vary on different years too.

Is that incl the price of the lines? Or have you bought them seperately.

Should have taken them on Sunday and got the guys to fit them, you seem to have to power to get them to dismantle your bike quickly enough, so fitting brake lines would have been a doddle
