However all of this would happen if someone exercised their right to be tried by a jury of their peers. Because it is a civil matter as opposed to a criminal matter there is no need to for commital proceedings from Magistrtaes Court to Crown Court.
By withdrawing it from this court they can now exercise his right to appear in front of a jury of 12 upstanding members of the community who all pay & have paid, and probably struggle to pay & moan about paying their council tax.............................................. (we'll see how much sympathy he gets there then.....)....
What it all doesn't go onto say is if this guy has now been summonsed to the Crown Court, and as it can take almost 2 years for cases to get there maybe that is still to happen.
