It is worth finding your local nut and bolt place, online can be very pricey for what for me is usually "ah give us 50p mate, be right"

yeh i agree i have looked before but not found any where that sells the sort of thing im usually after, i can get most steel stuf from college free but not SS as all the stuf they use are steel or NAS bolts

Good morning all.


It is indeed an M8 x 1.25mm thread, & I would use a helicoil.

The down side with usung a cut down bolt as a stud is that, there's nothing to stop the 'stud' bottoming out in the hole. Whereas a proper exhaust stud has a plain section that stops the stud going deeper into the hole, thereby allowing you to tighten it before spinning the retaining nut on. Use some good quality copperslip on the stud & you'll have no trouble removing it should the need arise sometime in the future.
