Canada Wins!!!!!!!!!!!!

first ice hockey game I've ever watched. was supporting Canada!!! what a good game, skill levels were superb, accuracy and speed of the passing was mind boggling. and best of all no cheating like in football, no players throwing themselves down like they'd been shot at the slightest touch.

I am still feeling great this morning -even though I should be slightly hung over

What a game indeed though - my wife (who doesn't watch sports) was on the edge of her seat -even her Nan tuned in for it (and rang with her condolences when the US tied it up!).

Awesome game and the right team won.

Was a brilliant game. I wish GB had a decent hockey team, but that'll never happen.

Crosby had a fairly poor game by his standards, but then to get the winning goal made up for that.

Luongo had a very good game, as did Miller.

its great fun to play - been a few years now but loved it esp checking everyone ( don't get a lot of that when your goalie though)

8pm last night...

I get a beer, get the dogs settled down and switch onto BBC2 to watch the hockey. My son is in his bedroom watching it too.

At about 8.30 Mrs Chop gets in from work and asks what the score is blah blah blah, she gets all sorted and sits down to watch the game.

Final period and the USA score to equalise with seconds to go, I'm gutted, really gutted. This means overtime golden goal, Mrs Chop has had enough and is up early for work so go's off to bed.

I pause the TV and go and get another drink, make myself a sandwich, come back and press play.

The game starts again, full on canadian style full hitting hockey, bloody fantastic.

I get a text message from Mrs Chop - 'how many mins in did they win'

Me - 'What you on about'

Mrs Chop - 'Canada have just won, what was the time'

Me - 'F*****g hell you daft s***e I'm watching it on time delay and didnt know they had won'

I look up and Canada score

Moral of the story - Dont be a greedy git and pause the tv while you go and stuff your face in the middle of the most important match of the year (exluding the Stanley Cup) while your son is upstairs watching the same thing on normal tv.

They cant stop laughing, I cant see the funny side

I think I was very difficult for Crosby to play his normal game, as he was a marked man all the time, everyone know what he is capable of doing given an opportunity

Yeah but 'cos he's one of the NHL's top players it's like that every game for him almost.

Still, his determination paid off.

My heart was in my mouth for pretty much the whole third period, and genuine palpitations for the overtime! The US was just not letting go of the puck for the start of the overtime and it was only when we suddenly pulled it all together that we got the puck back and managed to score.

I hope everyone watched Eurosport and not BBC - the BBC's 'commentary' transcended awful.
