I can understand they want to see a licence to prove you know what you are doing so not to be a danger to yourself and others , but would 33BHP be much of a problem? or even letting you swap it out as the laws of the road dont apply to the track.
What i'm against in all this is that i have done roughly 12,000 miles on a bike since i past my test last year in November, i wouldn't say i'm fully experienced but i'd say i'm a good rider on the roads and would easily do okay at a trackday as i now know my bike inside out(when i'm riding it not whilst taking it apart lol). I give some sportsbike riders a good run for money through turns etc on the roads, just lose out on the straights.

you have done more miles than me in a year than i have done i over 2, so even though i am unrestricted i would say you are a better rider than me?

Time and how quick you do it isnt a defining factor, its willingness to learn and push to limits, I wouldnt recommend pushing to limits but it worked for me. my second drop this year was testing my tyres in the wet this was down to unwarmed tyres. I can be erratic sometimes so i dont class myself as a good rider, as a good rider can be quick but smooth.

My guess would be insurance clauses.

yeah you are more than likley right, but that raises its own question, as your normal road insurance is not valied for track use anyway is it?

so it must be some really bizzar quirk?

Not your insurance, the track owners/organisers insurance.

i think it is for the tracks liability insurance, as there is very little way of proving your bike is 33bhp without a dyno run on track, and even then ECUs can be swapped so easilly, if you are not licensed for the bike, thier insurance would be invalid, i.e if a bit of track came loose you woldn't expect your insurance to cover the cost would you? but there would be trouble if you were riding a non restricted bike.
