I remember getting caught by my Mum when I was wanking looking at pictures of the Suzuki Katana 1000.

Moderately embarrassing.

Moderately!

I shudder to think what you've been caught doing that rates a 'very'.

Is that a follow up to Idle Bikers story or are we still talking bikes?

Have a feeling that was the 750cc grey import model from Japan. The 1000cc model was the one to have (even above the 1100) so I feel TIB was, er, celebrating the right derivative there...

In the days before disc locks we had cable locks, and I recall trying to ride off with mine still through the back wheel. Avoided getting it stuck in the chain but it trashed my chain guard. All in front of the combined West London branches of the Suzuki OC and Honda OC on a Wednesday night outside the Cabbage Patch pub in Twickenham. Someone stopped laughing enough to lend me a screwdriver (found my toolkit was not there) so I could remove the remains and ride sheepishly home.

Problem was I was halfway up the pretty steep ramp at the time and was suddenly restricted to awkward, short shuffling steps with my trousers round my ankles. The bike almost fell away from me at one point so I had to use my head as a lever to push it away from the opposite wall - had to go in work today with an imprint of a brick on my forehead.

Once inside the shed, I had the problem of putting the stand down without being able to lift or separate my feet - the trouser issue was compounded by restricted movement from a recent crash.

In the end, the Mrs found my breathing heavily and sweating profusely with the bike on top of me and my trousers round my ankles.
Now that is properly funny
Loved the gravel story btw - there's a similarly good tale on here from a chap who rode off a pier and into the sea while avoiding a bus on a costal road.
I have almost stopped laughing now, that was really funny

first year I was riding big bikes, I was stopped in traffic on a ridiculously steep incline, in the wet.

Kicked it down into first only it didnt go in...

What a hillstart that was, swear I could have set the backwards motorcycle land speed record.

Front wheel locked, useless as it was now effectively the back wheel.

Sliding down this wet hill, both feet down, not daring to bring my right foot up..

I eventually stopped and managed to put it in gear the second time.

Trust me, as a mum of two teenage boys I can honestly say you mum would have only gone out of earshot and laughed her socks off.
