Default Raising the front - am I killing my bike?

So I have been using an Abba stand for a while but have never needed to raise the front wheel off the tarmac until today. Now I have not forked out for the extra piece to the abba stand that lifts the front but am hoping that my make shift solution isnt damaging my bike.

I have basically used a bit of carpet and a car jack to lift the front wheel up.

Take a look at the pictures and let me know whether I am doing something stupid here.

Thanks,

Jon

Looks okay to me. I would be happy with that.

Looks like you're supporting it by the exhaust downpipes, in which case theres a slight chance you'll bend them a bit. Is there not a bit of engine lump you can get at to support it on? For a mo I thought it was on the fairing!

Ha, i got very scared it was on the fairing too, so long as the jack it supporting something solid i see no reason why this isnt a perfectly satisfactory solution, i used to use a car jack and some foam on one of the cross members on my old drag bike frames to lift the front up, worked like a charm.

Nicley colour matched equipment for the bike as well!

Look at the state of those pipes already!

Honda aren't STILL making downpipes out of stilton, are they?

That should be fine, just dont push down on the front or wobble the bike as it may fall off the jack.

I have a piece of 2x2 block of wood cut to length which I use on the engine block. A touch more stable than the jack I think.
