Pudding rice.
Full cream milk. Pot of cream too if you're feeling naughty. Sugar. Vanilla extract (not essence.... bleurgh). Optional, if you want that old fashioned taste: Grated orange zest. Sultanas. Grated nutmeg. Preheat oven to Gas 4 or equivalent. Put milk, cream, sugar, rice and vanilla extract in a saucepan. (and optinal orange zest and sultanas if greedy for grandma's home cooking) Heat gently until almost simmering, stir constantly to prevent sticking or burning. Transfer into a buttered oven dish. (Sprinkle on grated nutmeg) Bung in the oven, stir after an hour. Leave till a golden brown skin forms on top. PM Grinch, with pics, gloating over rice pudding (The ONLY dessert he hates.. lol). Eat till you're sick of rice pudding. Watch TV and feel fat, but contented. |

Yewwwww, I hate nutmeg.
Here we go: 65g pudding rice - it MUST be pudding rice, long grain and Uncle Bens WILL NOT DO. 600ml full fat milk 25g sugar I don't do ounces ![]() Put the lot in a greased ovenproof dish, cover & place in a preheated oven at 150C (gas mark 2) for 2 hours. Only, you'll have to double the quantities cos it's so more-ish. |
