Well you have a mountain more nerve than me so hat off to you sir.
![]() On a serious note whenever I see a Police car I definitely do the limit whatever they are doing and only overtake within the limit - not that there has been much occasion to have to contemplate it. I have filtered past a police car and even stopped alongside with unbaffled can - a lot of it is fronting it out giving the impression that you are unaware of anything wrong. But even that gives me a sensation of a weakening bowel!! ![]() This time you won, but its a risky game Baph! ![]() |

What I don't understand is what you complained about in the police station. I mean the cop is obviously a tw@ but that's not usually enough. You were speeding, the cop pulled you over for it, he was speeding too but that should mean you both get penalised not that neither of you do
![]() Surely it would only be entrapment if you was encouraging you to follow him. Anyway, well done for not taking any ****, I think I would have been counting my lucky stars and avoided the station at all costs, though, unless I thought getting the ******** into a bit of a trouble was worth 3 points on my own license. |

i was speaking to a policeman the other day (who is a friend) and he said that if they get caught speeding without being on an emergency they gert points and a disciplinary.....so he speed IS relevant. He also said that whilst on an emergency the guidelines state that it's normally the speed limit plus about 10mph until they reach national limit when they can do whatever (within reason) they like.

Agreed, something that I do happily riding in North Wales. As I said above, acceptable risk.

He didn't give me a ticket at the scene for speeding, so I took it that I was safe on that angle, so long as I didn't harp on about following him too fast. I also threw in the hate that Brunstrom has for bikers (which is quite publically known, even outside his Constabulary), and that the officer was probably encouraged by Brunstrum to stop bikers, even if sub-conciously. Also that the local councils have openly submitted a vote of no confidence in Brunstrum. I think the officers at the station kind of saw it as "Oh crap, this guy is p'd, and it'll probably hit the papers if we don't calm him down." Yup, I was lucky, and I'll try it on again next time. If I get points and/or a fine, that's just the risk I run ![]() |

I had a similar pull once for following a police car who was over the limit.
When he asked me how fast I was going I replied that I didn't know as I was following him at a safe distance and it never entered my mind that we would "both" be breaking the law by speeding. He seemed to get the jist and just asked me to keep an eye on my speed and let me get on my way. |

Baph, I'm glad you fronted up to him and got away with it.
Your unofficial complaint at the station, justified though it is, may have a negative effect for the next biker. That officer will get to hear about it, and will study up on the law about motorcycles, cans, plates, tyres, the whole lot, he will then, no matter how (un)professional he is, be armed with knowlege and out for revenge. The next biker may well be you. Last edited by Mogs; 18-04-07 at 11:06 AM. Reason: poor spelling |

I think the fact he slowed down to 70 speaks volumes about what his intent was. He obviously wanted to see if you would take the bait and break the speed limit by overtaking him which is exactly what you did. Good for you for not taking his **** but when all is said and done you did actually break the law by exceeding the speed limit and he made damn sure he wasn't when he pulled you.
Sad fact of life is a lot of police personnel are *******s and think they are above the law ![]() |

Baph
I am sure that you said things were a lot better in North Wales than my experience of the plod in my recent anti welsh rant. Nice to see things there don't really change after all ![]()

I've been shot before by a police marksman, I wasn't in Wales then, but I don't think telling you that I was in Bradford will help my explaination much ![]() |
