............Alarm.
Being a right skin flint Yorkshire Man I bought an alarm off ebay cost £21. Here it is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=230089923484 Needless to say it is a pile of garbage. It goes off if the birds sing too loud. (Even on the lowest setting). I onlt only wanted a noise box to use as a warning to would be chav thieves but this takes the pI%% Ca\n anyone recommend an alarm that will act as a noise and visual box for about £50. I aren't bothered about insurance approval etc. Here are 2 different types with pager facilities that I have been looking at on flee bay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTORBIKE-MOTO...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Way-Motorbik...QQcmdZViewItem Any thoughts?? |

I'm afraid with alarms, like everything else, you get what you pay for.
I had a Datatool System 3 on my SV, and that was a pain in the **** for £300, so even the expensive insurance approved jobs ain't necessarily trouble free. I have a Spyball on my 7, and that's brilliant - if you can find a second hand one working, buy it. I'm sorry to say I suspect if you buy a £50 cheapy with lots of features, cost's been cut somewhere - normally in quality. |

I hate my datatool. It beeps if you walk near it, if the dogs bark if you go into the garage, whatever.

Dan. Keep an eye out on fleabay as there have been a few of the Suzuki CAT 1 alarms on there going for a song.
Got mine for £40 but one went on there for under £17. They're a piece of p**s to fit and aren't too sensitive. It's not all good news though as they appear to be returns as the right hand side indicators don't flash with the alarm (although they still work when using them normally) and the indicator warning tone (the one that tells you when you've left your indicators on) doesn't appear to work (though I may not have left them on long enough for them to work!). Fitted a couple of the Cheetah alarms, nothing fancy but cheap and one has been faultless for over three years now,
can't fit the exact one but this is close ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Cheetah-Mo...QQcmdZViewItem Cheers Mark.

I've got a Cyclone C11 fitted to mine (google it, only one place sells them that I know of). Cost something like £30. They sell an uprated model for £60, which I'd probably go for if buying again (extra's like longer range remote & proximity sensor).
Fitted it myself. I found the opposite of yours. Originally, with my bike, you could pick it up off the side stand, then drop it back on the side stand again & it wouldn't kick up a fuss (on the max setting!) Luckily, it has an AUX switch input (thanks to a negatively switched tamper circuit). A trip to Maplin & back, tilt switch fitted. Now if you lift the bike off the side stand, it think's you've removed the battery, and so all hell breaks loose. It comes with immobiliser & things like remote start option. I never bothered wiring either of them up, because it was purely a noise box. It's also saved the bike once (mainly due to me running out of the office when I heard it)! |

datatool is brilliant. If it's to sensitive turn it down. If it keeps going of then the dealer has installed it wrong. For £300 you get what you pay for!
