Default Home information packs - more pointless expence

I saw on the TV that the great (only?) value of a H I P is the energy efficiency survey. I'm sorry but I don't know anybody who gives a rats ass about the energy efficiency when looking for a house - it just seems like an excuse for some muppet to come round, point out you don't have a condensing bolier and charge £300+. Seems just like another government 'we care about the enviroment' smokescreen.
When I bought my current house just a few months ago I had a full survey, and it runs into pages detailing the drainage, condition of the roof, timbers, construction, glazing, security etc etc, but at no point decided to patronise me with some opinion of how warm it might be.
Sorry - Its been a long day and I've had a beer . I ought to watch movies rather than working lunch.

i wonder how many 3 bedroom properties with "a study" or "nursery" will be coming onto the market if they do...

I have yet to come across anyone who thinks they're a good idea, except for those with a self-interest.

Was hoping you could clarify what's still being proposed.
