yes but what you dont see is the Elite soldiers dressed down as privates that acompany him everywhere he goes... to put it plainly.. what do you think would happen if one of the royal family was killed in combat? . . . it would NEVER happen.. the guy is a farce imo

in the bbc.co.uk/news

"Prince Harry had been based in a former madrassa along with a Gurkha regiment." - i guess its nice to have the best as babysitters

The 23-year-old left on a flight on Friday evening amid concerns he would be a Taleban target if he stayed - well isnt he a lucky fellow.. maybe my friend who got shot in the eye, could of left ten weeks in because he felt like hed be a target..

Last year, a planned tour to Iraq had to be cancelled at the last minute because of fears about his and his colleagues' security. - yeah my friends decided to call off their whole tour of iraq.. one had a family birthday another had a trackday etc.. i believe that afghan in march is still pencel'd in to their 2008 calender though... they also think didnt know that getting shot at came in the job description ironicly just like harry

This whole thing is the biggest peice of bull since the diana incident, he is a royal not a soldier, he went straight into officers training.. missed the MANDATORY barb test.. may be he was too good for that... then gets taken out early because the MOD say hes not aloud to play with naughty boys anymore.. as he might scrape his knee..

then says this..
"I don't want to sit around Windsor, because I generally don't like England that much and it's nice to be away from all the press and the papers." - WTF???

I thought he came across very well in the reports, just seemed normal and wanted to do his job.

I liked the bike where he swore and the other bit about not drinking booze. I also thought the fact he said he wanted to get out of england to get away from the media was quite an interesting comment to make to.

I used to think he was a bit of a pratt, but he looks like he's grown up a lot.

At the end of the day he's not doing a job thats any different to the other troops, so the risk etc is the same, I know he is a target because of who he is though. Good on him for wanting to go and not use his position to whimp out of it. Just a shame the media have messed it up for him.

to be fair its more like he really wants to do the job.. but his status stops him and the MOD jumps when the fhit hits the shan, and drags him off.. i feel sorry for him more than anything.. apparently his brother is a navy lad now too.. it angers me that the country let them "play" soldiers.. because ive lost too many good honest friends who fought for thier country.. actually let me rephrase that.. who faught to clean up bush's sH!t of a mess. Who would of benefited from the same treat ment.. secondly.. why isnt his head shaved? a #2 is uniform isnt it?... maybe not for ginger nuts

nah #2's not for officers, just not meant to touch the ears or the collar, but out in afgan they can grow their hair and a beard if they like. Increases respect from the locals who all have beards.
Also not shaving decreases the chance of cutting themselves and getting infected.

Don't know about that, Helmand is a pretty dangerous place I'm led to believe. And all the babysitters in the world won't save you from an IED or blue on blue bomb dropping on your head.

Still a **** though!

I must say the army took one hell of a risk there ... I assume it was done to try and raise the profile of the army that are serving out there in a war no one here wants/believes in and get new recruits etc, but imagine if he came back injured or dead!!! .... wow that was a big gamble some 'high up' made!!

As for Harry's own motives, it surely was to dispel any thoughts that he was soft just coz he was a Royal.

So I can see the rationale from both sides, but by chr1st it was a big gamble!!
