Yep every day. But it pays the bills, keeps us in food and pays for me bike. Could find summat else, but would have to commute, lose decent accrued holiday entitlement as a result of a few years service and find you have to deal with the same cr@p but in a different environment. Until a lottery win happens, work is just summat that happens between weekends and has to be endured

I'm about to go on hols for a few days (not weeks, days) and just to finish off and make sure nobody complains I started work today at 7.15 and I've only just got home. Being self-employed is damn hard work.

Bleedin hell, there's a lot of unhappy folks on the Org, yeah I'm also one of them, been doing chemistry for 10 years now and need a change, I need something which actually has an end product like when I was in the States, not just plodding along in research. Well now the misses has got a job teaching so will get a good payrise in Sept. I think I'll start having a look around problem is I have no idea where to start or what I want to do.

Anyone know any good websites.

Yup, currently job hunting...... and I hate it too. Now, if life was fair I'd win the lottery and have to do neither.

Yes I am fed up of digging poo that is being sprayed by a big fan.

I have my own way of working. My last annual appraisal 3 years ago said. "Tim does not do teams. " My boss has not had the guts to do another since.

They leave me alone with projects that minimise my exposure to idiots and only get me out of the box when jobs are deemed too difficult for the idiots.

The last one was to resurrect a document management system that was scrapped despite there being contractual requirements on document retention.

Today I get upgrade of a hydraulic modelling system despite being instructed to sack all my c programmers 5 years ago, and why do IT need to employ a fluid dynamics specialist, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineers. sack them they are not required for us to supply MS office.

Slowly my bosses are learning parts of the organisation expect IT to supply them with specialist tools and not just office tools. Now where are the consultants who said we should be using Commercial Off The Shelf software. 500 copies of Microsoft Power Station designer please.

I was unhappy with work - that's why I left. I then spent 4 months doing sweet FA and loving it.

Money running low enforces the need to return to work. Where I am aint perfect, but there's some decent perks, the pay aint too bad, and we're given free reign to have a good laugh so long as the work gets done.

Sure there's bad times & I have the occasional rant, but that's definately a minority.

So what was it, more important was up blown up So what you do then, civilain or officer?

Yup I have walked out of jobs before, had arguments with bosses before I told one boss to shove his job up his I felt so good that day, I then went with mates that night as I didn't have to work, I found a temp a week later. Thats how spent my last year before this job, just different projects some fun, others very dull.

So yeah if you hate your job leave, which I did changed careers, moved to London. So it can be done, but only you can do it!

The grass is never greener, I do actually hate my job at present but it ticks 9 out of 10 but the remaninig one is job satisfaction, the job I left I was really happy with but hell of unorganised adn lacked real prospects. Moved to my current employer and progression will be ok money better suits family life but job sucks. Almost phoned my previous employer to see if I'd get my old job back!!!!

Anyway given teh curent s.h.i.t.e. weather we're having might just pack up everything and kids and move to spain and work in a bar!!! sleep on the beach!!!
