I dont know why anyone pays for this information as most government departments lose it so regularly you can pick it up for free.
Can you not tell your employer not to pay the ticket as you are contesting it?Ad hoc deductions from wages tend to be illegal too????

Ive had about 5 tickets from the company that sends out the tickets for Asda. On a busy Saturday there is just nowhere to park except in the white chevron boxes and get the ticket every time. Now its a private matter so you do not have to pay no matter what letters they send you out. I have had about 20 letters to date and its up to £125 + charges blah blah but just chuck them in the bucket. It wont go to court so dont worry about it.

Why wont it go to court?
Surely if you ignore them and they take you to court adding on all the extra costs they have incurred you will end up with a court judgement against you. This could easily become a few thousand pounds worth and make it worthwhile to a debt collector????
You only win these things in two ways.Either you fight them and win,or you have no assets for them to take away from you.

It is a civil offence and is based on contract law. If it goes to court they may only recover a reasonable cost for the original parking infringement (that doesn't mean £100+) such as the cost that the parking ticket would have cost, they cannot claim damages where none have been incurred etc. They also need to have met strict rules if they wish to take it to court, such as adequate, clear and correctly worded signage at the entrance to the car park and at reasonale intervals in the car park. It isn't worth them taking you to court just to get £5 out of you!!

Tis a possibility the police could get involved and you'd have your car taken for not displaying a valid vehicle registration!

Wouldn't that only apply if you are on a public highway which by definition a car park on private land is not, even if you have to use a public road to get there? ISTR some vehicle offences e.g. drink driving can be pursued if on land the public have access to (car park, garage forecourt etc) but I'm pretty sure vehicle licencing offences don't fall into that category (although I've seen a few council run car parks which specify a valid excise licence being displayed as a condition of parking). I stand to be corrected.

And BTW... what the **** happened to the data protection act if any Tom, **** or Harry can buy your details for £2.50?

Edit: now that's a surprise... profanity filter... Tom, Richard or Harry :S
