Received my new shiny gear lever from Ms Hung yesterday morning (far too hungover to fit it) but (this may be me just being thick or half ****ed ) I can't seem to find it documented in the service manuals at all. Does anyone know if it's covered? Do I even need the manual? It's the gear lever and gear change lever rod for a '99 naked.

Dead easy to do, one side has a clock wise and the other an anti-clockwise thread. Simply release the locking nuts at either end, remove the old one by turning it one way (sorry, can't remember which) and this will loosen both ends. Offer up the new one a turn it the opposite direction and secure with the locking nuts.

I couldn't work out how to swap the lever though at a glance and came into the warmth lol. Only thing I could thing of is unscrewing the whole footpeg (wasn't convinced). Or undo the bolts holding the whole plate onto the frame.

Any clues to what I need to grease and with what? Copper grease on the rod threads and white grease or bearing grease on the balljoints (?) under the rubber boots?

The lever is held on by the foot peg. You need to remove the footpeg bolt from behind the footrest mounting plate, this will allow the peg assembly to come off and the lever.
Footpeg bolt: 39Nm Footrest Bracket bolts: 23Nm I use multi-purpose grease. |

5mm, 6mm, and 8mm (12mm for the Pointy's front axle) are the must common sizes on motorcycles
