Mines the same after fitting the r6 throttle tube although it was quite bad with the stock one. I'm planning to run some 3in1 oil down the cables as the cables seem fine at the top. It feels to me like the throttle return spring has got weak with age.

Could it be the wire fromt the grip is catching on something?

Could be the bar end weight rubbing on the throttle; give the throttle grip a cut-down, and add some washers onto the bar-end weight bolt. Lube with some WD40 aswell. Make sure thre is no glue between the throttle tube and handlebar!

I had the same problem with my heated grips; trimming down and regular WD40 to retain a slick surface between the moving and non-moving parts helps keep my throttle action light

as does not riding with the handlebar muffs

this is often the result of the throttle cables not routing correctly. Did you alter the position of the cables at all, have they been rotated around the bar any?

Try the throttle return with the steering in different positions, if eases it in certain positions then its almost certainly this problem.

hmm think you may be onto something there flymo, i think i cable tied the hotgrip wires to the throttle cables so might that have moved it enough? i just took the hotgrip off and at first was doing the same thing but now seems to be returning nicely however i have no snapped the peg that holds the switch case in place! i will untie the wires and see how that helps

Thanks

Thats prob it, if the switchgear rotates around the handlebar even by a small amount that can cause enough resistance in the cable housing to stop it snapping back by itself.
