It gave me countless nightmares as a child, after first hearing it at my Uncle's and then the folks got a copy. Both the music and the artwork!

Which is why it's one of my favourite albums (and books) ever!! Sadly I can't afford tickets for the 30th anniversary show, but I went to the first tour (2006?)- was awesome and sent
shivers down my back.

Jeff Wayne does have a CGI movie planned, but it's been on a backburner as the tours have been so successful.

Bit of a War of the Worlds Geek to be honest! (Star Trek Steve- I assume you do realise that the opening narration you quoted there is the book version, rather than from the LP? Sorry- you see. WOTW geek! EDIT- or is it from the woefully disappointing Spielberg movie?).

One of these months, I'll get that box set of the CD's with the extra discs and DVD and huge book.

Rictus.......I owe you a drink at the AR just for the little blast from the past there. I was born in 1978 and my dad used to have this on in the car ALL THE TIME for me and my sister to listen to. It went on like that until I was about 10 and we couldn't play the tapes anymore. It was the only thing we would listen to and not get bored with, not talk over and just sit quiet and enjoy.

The only good thing about the Tom Cruise film was that Scary Movie 4 completely ripped the **** out of it!
