I've always had a bit of a high heart rate, even when I was young and doing a lot of training, well riding around a lot for fun. Guess im just made that way.
I have been drinking water, still feel a little low on drink, but its now down to 65... Ill be getting out a lot more on the MTB so that should help me ![]() |

have to agree 70 is a bit high,
currently 66 however i'm 36, 3 st overweight, recooperating from man flu and unable to do more than moderate physical exersion. my resting rate in the hosp was 212 (not a typo) and it took over a year to get down below a hundred. Historically at my fittest it hovered about 40. As luckypants said, it needs to be taken first thing, as soon as you wake up, before even sitting up in bed. |

I don`t think you can say whether Nicks resting heart rate is abnormal or not! A resting heart rate for women is considered “normal” if it is between 70-80 a minute, I can`t recall the exact figure for men but I know it is slightly lower. As someone has already said the only accurate measurement is after a good sleep.
Some people simply have a higher/lower resting heart rate that cannot be attributed to any specific cause and a resting heart rate really isn’t an effective way of measuring the health of a person although they say anything above 84 beats per minute is considered dangerous. I think a much better method of checking your physical fitness is to measure your heart rate after exercise and see how long it takes to get back to resting rate. This is called the recovery rate and is much more important when looking at how fit you are. |

![]() Well said. Just thought id ask I didnt start this thread to find out fitness, it was just to see what other peoples was... Its interesting so far. I do seem to have a faster rate than most... Must be all the air my massive brain needs ![]() Think ill be doing more fitness (not that im a couch potato) to try and lower the Heart rate. Last edited by ThEGr33k; 23-07-09 at 05:35 PM. |

Male: 50
Weight: 15st 10lbs. Height: 5'10" Very unfit - little choice following RTA nearly 4 yrs back - women drivers. B.P.M. 80 - best it's been for nearly 4 yrs. B.P. 145/90 - best it's been for nearly 4 yrs. Snap shots do give an indication but trends are important. Mine reads bad but the trend is good.
