yea Mark I noticed its a bit brittle the ally .. two bends oppo directions in the viceand it snapped off. well we will see.. its a trial thing..
DMC ace pics.. I think cos it in the shed it all looks high and stuff looks ok in reality.. and at back I have a bar that will cable tie across the back.. that widens them out and levels things up. BUT moreove gives me a space for tent and sleep bags to be cargo netted on maybe..

main concern is the exhaust tbh.

it needs taking out the shed when this dam rain goes off and loking at in 360 situation.. i sure it will all come good. I think it may be tweeked a lot more yet or totally not needed aint got it out of the shed its bouncin with rain..

and.. the gap dont need be wide mand only has a very small size 8 bum..

see..

DMC I would mount them a lot further forward if I dint have to have a pillion on.. mandy needs to be comfy and get her feet on the pegs. would love them like yours.
in fact would love them the same with all my gear in the middle on the seat and no pillion..oops.

been lookin at DMC picsagain.. see they look ace.. perfectly shaped.

your indis are higher than mine and it still clears them..

mine come out from side of the number plate so onyour pic would have loads of clearance..

maybe it cos mine a K4 and the shape.

like I say when I can get it out the shed and work right round it I sure it will look ok and work ok. just need mandy legs to be comfy

bit of a scrap heap challenge there

as has been commented on would it not be better to have them further apart at the rear, cos at the moment having them in so tight seems to be forcing them wide at the front (if ya get my drift)

anyway they look well supported, I just hope your aluminium is strong enough when fully loaded and hitting bumps

see now you got me worried mr engineer man..I cant bend steel.. ! need a blowtorch .. the ally already has a couple of fissures in it on the some of the bends - visions of it all flying off don the road.. maybe it overkill maybe cos they designed properly to fit they should err fit.!

enuff waffle from me - back to midsummer murders on the hard drive..

Just didn't want poor Mandy to be uncomfortable and unhappy on the back.

And if you have chips the next time I see you.........................

big enough vice and a hammer and you WILL bend 3mm steel no problem

especially if you heat it up on a gas ring or a primus stove.

i would hate to see a lump of ally break off and get tangled in the rear wheel mate

your design concept is good though and will no doubt keep them where you want them, now you have the basics and a template go for the steel for safety

Cheers Mark..

I think I will be mostly in the shed today.. but I dont feel well.. not well enough to ride the bike anyway- hence I not on this conwy ride out and the weather here is ace ! sods law.

I only have a small one- Vice. and no flame source- unless I use the kitchen burner and runto the shed.. dropping a hot metal piece onthe conservatory floor would not go down well.

a I was building it I thought it wasnt too strong at points and of course those points are the bends.. A BREAK WOULD leav a piece loose and yea it could get in the wheel.. so I may upgrade

like you say wont take long now I got the lengths and holes /template was it with your engineering fancy talk..

appreciate your input mate..
