Suffice it to say, that combined with my practically new SV being delivered out of fuel with a dead battery means I won't be doing business with them again.

For what? Doing exactly what dealers do? How is he supposed to make any money if he gives you the same price as he is going to put it on the shop floor for?

Most dealers look at giving you a 3rd of what the bike is worth to them.
From memory its something to do with the amount of VAT thats added to it before they even start to make a profit from something.
If you had a shop and took my bike for £1000 would you sell it on for £1000?
I think not, you would make as much as possible on it.

There is absolutley nothing wrong with the bike, it's a wonderfull bike i wish i still had it, but there mabey finance outstanding on it still so if you want it do a hpi check first, even tho it's from a dealer.

I'm a bit confused here. First you say there's nothing wrong with it, then there is, then that it's got an illegal front tyre.

The front tyre is presumably the reason they're selling it as spares or repair and to get out of offering some sort of warranty.

Nobody ever forces somebody to trade in a bike at a dealers. We do it cos it's easy and quick.

If anybody thinks their bike is worth a lot more than the dealer offers then go sell it privately.

I'm not on about the price for him, by all means dealer need to make a profit, i'm on about the bike having dead battery and out of fuel, even he said he won't be dealing with them.

I know, i was on about the battery and fuel not the profit making, i've just had alot of bad experiences with dealers lately, by that i mean the last month.

Firstly, i thought that you would sell a bike for spares or repairs, if there was more than just a front tyre needing replacing, which is what £100, less than that for a dealer, then you could sell it, as a legit bike. I said there was nothing wrong with the bike itself then i noticed that the front tyre hadn't been replaced after i made the thread. Also when i said that there was something wrong with it i meant the finance. If you had read my other thread you would realise that i couldn't sell it privetley because it still had finance outstanding, not my finance either, and im not that sort of person just to fob it off to someone else. So in a way i was forced to, to get out of the pickle i was in, i didn't trade it in, they brought the bike back off me, which to be honest i thank them for, all i was doing is warning people that the bike may still have finance outstanding, so beware, the bike is fantastic never missed a beat.

The ad says 'Spares or Repairs', which implies there is a fault that needs attention. It's a dealer's job to maximise profits so asking 800 quid more than you sold it to them for is fair game. If you were savvy enough you could have sold it privately for the same price and made an extra 800 quid... that's why the dealer is rich and you're not.

It's what's known as tough titty, sunshine.

Selling a bike with outstanding finance crosses the line, I know dealers can be thieving c**ts at times, but that is a proper thieving c**ts trick.

If you're that annoyed at them then give trading standards a call. I know I would if I was £200 down.
