Is the idea of the egg & breadcrumbs to pad the mixture out or help the meat stay together or other? I'll stop at sainsburys on the way home and report back

If I'm doing plain burgers (with just some salt, pepper and dried herbs for a quick lunch) I never use breadcrumbs or egg. Just always get your hands in the bowl and squish all the ingredients together thoroughly until it is not in strands anymore. I use a cookie cutter, put a ball of mince in and press it all down really well to make burgers for the BBQ as they are more robust, but for a frying pan, just shape in your hands. You only need egg if you're using breadcrumbs and fresh herbs.

I use breadcrumbs and egg when I am cooking for lots and want to pad it out a bit and also, it makes the burgers a little lighter in texture than just meat.

koalaty! (see also, kwality)

Think I'll dodge the breadcrumbs & egg as there's only me & dani. Got some spring onion & lettuce left from chicken fajitas yesterday so that'll do for the salad.

Thinkin something like this but without the squid/purple stuff on top

For desert, some small chocolate brownies, warmed in the oven, served with mackays ice cream and a bit of the co-op fair trade 70% coacoa chocolate, grated over the lot of it.

Managed to borrow a projector, 6 foot screen and 2x 200watt powered speakers to set up a mini cinema in the front room for me & dani (just so happens that I have the appropriate adapters to connect the xbox in = supersize fifa!!)
