With regards to cholesterol, it is a number of things that contribute to it being high, and one is stress!! If you already have a healthy diet, low on cholesterol then you could be one of those people that have high cholesterol by default. I am one of them! Had it at 5 since I was 16 and will not drop whatever I try.....I don't take pills as I'm too young for it to be a concern.

The diabetes is easily manageable at Type II with diet and exercise. Walking the dog unfortunately Tim doesn't constitute as exercise I walk the dog as well but it's not helping with weight loss Try some cycling or something that makes you sweat a bit......sex is one
Diabetes is said to be the most common undiagnosed medical condition in Britain, and GPs routinely fail to test for it.In fact they routinely fail to test anyone for anything in my experience which is possibly why they are to be put in charge of the entire NHS budget.Could save a fortune.

Just back from the clinic.

I queried why they do not screen and she said they do. Well why was I never asked.

We target the lists of obese, smokers etc.

Well as I am not on those lists how would I have been screened.

We haven't the resources to invite all so have to target the at risk.

So it is only because I went to the doctors with a throat abscess and wife who was pushy that I had my bloods tested and this was found. I was on my way out with a script for antibiotics when she started asking is that all you are going to do,

They do say married men live longer. Perhaps this is why!

Yeah but if you ever decide to knock one out to Dave, you will be on less.

Actually it is a relief to have a diagnosis. I kept saying I wasn't feeling well, tired etc and got no sympathy from the women in my house. Then again only Jasper loves me.

Anyone else out there with this. I am a bit gobsmacked and have to attend a clinic tomorrow where they should be advising on lifestyle etc. A quick look on the net does not say much change to my diet etc. But maybe some weightless and exercise.

TBH I am relieved that after so long of saying I am tired and thirsty that it can be attributed to something other than being a lazy slob.

I just wish my doctor was a little more proactive. My last blood test was about 10 years ago. They check my blood pressure every 6 months but never my bloods
If you need any immediate advice just ask in this direction and i'll speak to my dad, he's had type 1 since a bike accident over 10 years ago.

He was originally on the old needle 4x a day, and then became one of the first people in the country at the time to get a permement pump fitted due to how well he worked on his diet and keeping up to date with everything.

Any advice on diet, what to eat/when not to eat it he is DEFINETLY the man to ask. Matt.

Hi Tim
Sorry to hear your news, but take care of yourself, keep taking all those tablets and things should be OK. About half of my dads side of the family inc my sister had type 2 they all started to suffer the effects when in thier 50s. So I'm waiting with baited breathe. Think on this, many people manage type 2 and successfully live life to the full, so why not you. Good Luck
