As for foregin aid my sister has done work work Gana, I have done work in Mexico. Speaking to alot of these people and spending time with them, they are happy just the way they are.

Foreign aid's not supposed to be about westernising people, and I think it's fair to say that people in refugee camps tend not to be happy just the way they are But yeah, that's a fine line, we probably cross it far too often. Stealth imperialism, I saw someone call it.

Completely agree though, other than that I don't think it needs to be one or the other, our foreign aid budget's a drop in the bucket, we could change things here without having to cut that off (though just as with spending at home I reckon we need to sort out what we do abroad) I mean, it's just my personal politics but I'd sooner take a little from people who're pretty well off, than take a lot from people who have practically nothing. Regardless of where they live...
