Chain as a rule of thumb should have 20 -30mm of play... pull your chain from behind your rear sprocket and see if it pulls away from the rear sprocket that will give a better indication whether or not its your chain and sprocket.

Thats what my experiance of what happened when i had a mysterious clunking it was the chain knocking on the bottom of the swing arm....

Have you got a scottoiler fitted??? Would be worth having a think about getting one if you havent got one fitted. You could take the cover off of the clutch (where the chain goes on my curvy its plastic dont know about the pointys) and see if anythings loose in there. When i took mine off the clutch bolt (whatever its called) was ever so loose. Just go round checking everythings tight but dont forget dont over tighten lol!

update,

it didnt do any major clunking or stuttering 2day,

But if i listened closely over the exhaust, i could hear a slight clunking click sort of sound, which increased with speed so im guessing it will be the chain then?

had a few tight links i spotted last night.

scottoiler is being planned now, and should pop round to mates 2moro and he will prob tell me strait away what it is.

Thanks to everyone!
