Just a quickie before i dig into it - the wiring coming out of the switch gear - left and right (yellow block and left/black block right) - does this go into the clocks? or back into the main loom somewhere....?
They don't. You should have a sub-loom(seperate from main loom) which plugs into the main-loom(two connecting blocks)

Then the left and right switch gears plug into two more connecting blocks on the sub loom.

This then leaves you with one connecting block for the clocks....

To cap, the sub oom has four connectors....two for main loom, one for left switch gear, one for right switch gear and last one for clocks.

It appears you don't have the sub loom (?)

Yes they go back to the front somewhere I think but nothing to do with the clocks, just trace connectors back mate, on the CBR they are all in the front subframe area. Just trace them back, its easy, with a bit of bodging they can all be hidden down the side of the tank

EDIT: Listen to Ben, I haven't ever taken an SV apart properly, I may be this weekend to have a look at things and spend some garage time. Grant if you want mate come up to mine mate for a chat and a drink and you can watch me take mine apart We will both learn then
