I'm sure someone can do you a cd of them revving their SV so you don't have to make the noises yourself

Work in progress dave.... i just realised that the bottom bolts are actually incredibly long as is, and there's what four mount points all over the engine, so even if we reinstall it like this it could be ok

How did that happen? Was the missing bit still present in the package when it arrived? Was it properly packaged?
It looks like the engine has been dropped on that mount so Id check for any other damage too.

But those four bolts add the structural strength to the chassis when the engine is mounted.

I would not use it like it is.

Making a spacer would be 10 minutes on the lathe, probably a tenner to a local engineer. And then 5 minutes with the grinder to make it fit.

Not sure how it happened, i can only assume it was dropped, the missing part was not in the package, the rear cylinder cover was also cracked twice, but i can replace that.

Looking at the haynes the bottom mounts seem to be connected with a rather large bolt is that correct ?

I'll see if i can find one, i think i follow what your saying chris, cut off the old section, and make up a new cylinder/spacer and have it against the engine block.

Exactly, that mount is adjustable so it doesn't need to be perfect to the thou, but it should really be flat where you grind it off. A bit of bar faced off in the lathe both sides should be near enough for the spacer.

As dave says the engine is a stressed part of the frame and I would guess that most of load there is carried by friction, not shear of the bolt.

Well i'll see what the garage can do for me, or worst case i can have somebody make me up a steel cylinder, just need to come up with a way of cutting it cleanly, and also making sure that we dont inadvertently damage the engine integrity .... ohh the fupping joys !!

Called Fedex there cool, there said there claims dept will be in touch.

Well !! i payed for £250 worth of insurance so we'll see what comes out of it, i explained to the nice girl on the fone, it's an engine mount point, so we maybe have structural entigrity problems, but again she's not part of the claims folks

d..
