Ok well i'll see what Akrapovic say, and JHS I'm getting in touch with too. But it looks like I need to find a place to pop a hole and stick a thread. But then Mr. Dave worries me, if I molest it, put the thing in and still errors... well. I might just end the world instead, or punch Suzuki in the face. How rude!

closed loop systems sort themselves out usually.
the lambda sensor detects the prcentage of oxygen in the exhaust gas and the ecu constantly changes the fueling.the fuel air mix is always changing from rich to lean (within reason) and so as long as the gases pass through the sensor it should be fine id have thought. im sure il be corrected if wrong but iv fitted loads of performance exhausts ont cars and not had a problem, dont see why or how the system should be different on a bike. |

I thought closed loop fuelling only applied at small throttle openings/rpm so smooth out the fuelling in those areas? Above that the ECU just reads the map? I know it is a similar case with fitting a full system to the 675, but there are options to disable the 02 sensor when applying the map. If you are fitting a full system, then you would need a remap, so maybe talk to your dyno guy and see if there is anyway to disable the 02 sensor in the ECU

Right then! I've been stressing over this all the way in. So it seems that I just need to find a place to cut a hole and put a thread in.

Hey Jambon,
Right well I've talked to the guy at JHS Racing today, and he'd had a call from Akrapovic regarding my issue too! It seems nobody was really aware about the changes, though JHS guy has tried to get around it, he tells me that the diameter of the pipe on the Akra is too small to fit the lambda in there in the right place or whatnot. The only system he has that they've got working on a k8 is this M4 race system, though that's about as road legal as a blind goose sadly. So I'm going to stick with the standard exhaust, and just moan about "that's what I get for buying a new bike" etc. for the next 6 years or so. Oh well! Akrapovic say they don't support the k8 at the moment ![]() Last edited by Griffo; 03-09-08 at 12:53 PM. |
