It seems like all service industries that there is several degrees of cover, this applies to the AA and RAC so you only get what you pay for.Much like insurance 3rdparty minimalistic to fully comp

I am glad others have pointed out the lack of recovery some providers offer after an accident. When I have told many people they are most surprised and in denial.

One mate had to tell them their was a hole in his fuel tank in order to get recovered. He knew better than to tell them a dry stone wall made it.

The RAC will recover you in the event of an accident as long as you take out the recovery option rather than just the cheapest breakdown cover.

well I've never had to use my free breakdown cover provided by carol nash...until yesterday tea time.....rang em up, and they sent somebody out. Had to wait a good couple of hours, cause the recovery comapny were on shift changeover, so rather than getting somebody that was nearer, a man from Sheffield came out, but when he did.........
I was expecting a blue transit with three wheels, but a mahhhhoooosive van came down the road, he opened the door, and pulled down a giant folded walk on ramp. It was a right propper van kitted for bikes only, and he was a biker, and treat my beloved Suzy with kid gloves, strapped her down in the van securely, and drove very very carefully. He was ace, and if I break down in Yorkshire again, I am most likely to get that recovery service picking me up, but they are nationwide and Carol nash use them a lot..... SOS motorcycle recovery

Top Banana. Feel sorry for those that don't have breakdown thrwon in, or have clauses..he told me about a fella he picked up in Leyburn, who had a brand new bike, that had been given insurance with the bike at george Whites down south. The guy came from Watford and needed transporting home from up here. Only thing was the breakdown cover thrown in with the bike deal only covered him for the five miles surrounding his home......bet that was one hefty charge for the ride home in the van!

The AA do accident recovery, and just like the RAC it depends on what policy/cover you take with them.

Can just imagine them getting there to a scuffed bike... rashed up leathers... polished tarmac.

"Oh, it must have rusted through..."

I'm with the AA. I liked the fact that whatever vehicle i'm in/on I'm covered. However I didn't read the policy properly when I took it out-- They recover the bike to a garage within 10 miles and take me home if that is within 10 miles. I discovered this whilst standing on the M1 at 8.30 pm whilst I waited nearly 2 hours for a van to come.
When the guy arrived though he was ace and took me home. I think i'll shop around a bit more next year though when I need a new policy.

Well they covered me in the event of an accident, once was me on the bike and the other was the Mrs' in the car and we were, nor any insurance company, not charged.

Got mine through eBike insurance 'free' with the policy, seems to be RAC cover. Never taken more than 60m to get to me (regrettably used the service 3 times), however they are not too keen to send out recovery without at least 2 different mobile mechanics turning up and going 'Ah, its a bike them, mmmmmmmmmmm.........'
