FFS! I seriously doubt if there is anyone with enough knowledge/BS/technical know how on this forum who can really and honestly say that they could tell the difference between 70.8 and 72 bhp.

Chris, just use what is there and don't worry about being on the 72 bhp limit. It's not that important at your (or my) level. I can guarantee (sp) that you couldn't tell the difference between 60 and 70 bhp never mind 70.8 and 72.

Glad you understood Stu!!

On a serious and slightly sensible note, I don't think I could tell a 10 bhp difference, and I've been riding for nearly 15 years (7 as a courier).

Its not so much about the power really, that is where its sat right now.

The problem is that when looking at the dyno results it shows that the power goes flat at around 9k and the bike stops pulling, when other bikes can still pull?

What is happening is that instead of a power curve all the way, it just goes flat as I mentioned. This is caused because the end can as said needs repacking at the moment the gas flow isn't great and shagged air filter.

My main question is it worth having a race filter on the bike? Becasue soon as you stick a free flow filter on there the bike run leaner, so the fueling will have to be done.

I haven't paid any money for this right now either, however I'm trying to make the best and most sensiable choices.

I also know Jester is talking about in really world terms of power o/p ect. But is not best to have anything running at peak perfoarnce? Rider included.

The easiet way is for me to take a photo of the dyno print out so you can see what I'm talking about, otherwise I'll bring to soho. I'm not on own computer right now.

mine was making 70.6 rwhp with some serious holes at 8k. It felt better at 66 rwhp with a fat mid range. I was going to leave it alone but my tinkering habit got the better of me and I stuck a BMC race RS in and some 165 mikunis. I race mine in MEMCRC mini-twin series so am stuck at 72 hp too. To be hoest 66 felt better than 70.6 due to the former having better mid range. I'll post my graph before I started tinkering for comparison.

That AF ratio looks strange. Last time I saw one like that was when mine was leaking air.

Yeah. it was running lean. It was way back when i still ran dynojet mains. 144s. They've been sacked now and I'm on a different filter. It used to run a de-snorkeled bmc road with dnojet 144 mains. I'm now on a BMC race RS with mikuni 165s.
This graph is from about 4 or 5 builds ago. I've ran different filters and a few diferent size mains in between then and my current set up. The last run out was Cadwell last month on the de-snorkeled bmc road and 152.5 mikunis. It was a little lean then too. I've heard the sv likes to be a bit on the rich side, around 12-12.5/1 as opposed to 13/1.

A little rich doesn't hurt.
