Are you sure jambo? I know the idle figures look ok but I thought the voltage should go up under load of headlights and at 5,000rpm - like in the 14v area? Is it something as simple as initially, a few months back, i may have been suffering from reg/rec failure under load and dodge wiring and now ive just cured the wiring side of things, cos at idle the figures seem ok, but the reg/rec is still underperforming under the load of lights?

simple test - rev the engine with the lights on. They should get perceptibly brighter than they are at idle. If not, the alternator isn't doing its job. Might be easier to do this test at night.

Will try it, but i have tested the alternator previously and it was putting out 70? (i think, but i cant remember fully of the top of my head) on all 3 at 5,000rpm which was within the guidlines.

Sounds fairly familar to my issue, checked everything bit by bit as described in manual, load tested the generator and all seemed to be okay, bought a new battery Yussa YTX12s or something like that (220CCA) and bike is runnign great, touches wood....
Although mines a Pointy.... |
