That sounds very much like my missus' bike (33bhp restricted curvy).

At 7k rpm an unrestricted bike should really be kicking into it's power band, if it's gasping a bit at that point it's very probably got a restriction kit in it. Not a big job to change it, my local garage installed the restriction kit in an hour, so I'd imagine it'd be the same in reverse?

If it's not restricted then it could be the under-tank foam gremlin

There is a little bike garage in Farlington (near Sainsburys) which I have used in the past and they are pretty good. Can't for the life of me remember what the name of the place is though.

They could remove the washers for you or maybe PM Grinch (he lives in Cosham). He has his carbs on and off all the time. He may be able to give you some pointers.

Easy enough to check.

Remove airbox, open the throttle all the way, lift the carb slide up with your finger. Shine a light and can you see a washer in the way, or all the way down into the inlet tracts?

If no washer, then remove the rear pot carb slider (remove the black plastic carb top), does the slider have a horizontal hole in it?

1 is the FI international kit. Simply pull carbs and remove washers.
2 is the suzuki 33bhp kit, you need to find some full power carb slides without the hole in them.
