one set of NCB is built on each policy and they remain independant you transfer it to a car it stays with car and you go back to 0ncb on the bike.

Just did a quote on Churchill, no option to say I have bike no claims bonus though Asks you what type of licence etc, options are just full and provisional. Weird. Would prob just ring and ask them to walk me through it.

Yeah, way I did it when I insured my bike was to get as many quotes as I could on the internetz then ring the insurer up that gave me the cheapest quote. Then I could say I'd been on the roads for two years on a CBT and had 2 years NCB etc...

That's how I do it anyway

I entered in 2 years no claims and licence less than a year...Then it tells me I have made an error. Theoretically I have had some form of full licence for 2 and a half years and made 2 years no claims up. But I have only had a licence for 6 months or so.

Yeah, that's what I mean. If I put in 3 years NCB but I've not had my car licence for even a month then the computer rejects it. Best to ring up for final quote.

I've not got a single insurance quote for under £2k! What a joke.

If I'm able to transfer my NCB then this could help but so far I can't find anyone who does that, any ideas?
Cheaper than mine

This is one of the reasons why I want a bike, car insurance will rape you especially if you're young and inexperienced.

I have been driving for 3 years here is my history: -

1st - 1991 Renault 19 1.4 GTS - added driver on my step mums policy (technically fraud as I was the main driver) - aged 18 no NCB - direct line £600

2nd - 1998 Peugeot 306 LX 1.6 8v - FC/aged 18/no NCB (but done my pass plus) - direct line £1400!

3rd - 1998 Ford Escort 1.8 16v GTI - FC/aged 19/ 1 year NCB/ No points- Elephant £1100

4th - 1998 Mitsibushi Colt 1.6 16v Mirage (modified) - TPFT/aged 19/ 1 year NCB/ No points - Endsleigh £900

present car - 1999 Renault Clio 1.2 8V RN - FC /age 21/ 2 years NCB/ No points - Elephant £500

I would recommend giving Elephant.co.uk a go, they should give you a fair quote, they also do a 10 month accelerater which is where you pay for 10months insurance instead of 12 and you get your NCB after the 10 months, then you can renew it with that 1 year NCB.
