^do this check. Then try a new relay. If you don't have time/chance/money to get a relay right away, i think they can often be 'persuaded' to work with a good thump. This certainly wont be a long term fix though!

Seems to be the only option... as you have confirmed your starter motor works and i am presuming the battery is connected!!??

yup could well be a faulty starter switch...reason i mentioned the relay is where they sit, they do hold water esp when washing the bike...will be either one tho, i,ll bet my house on it

Cheers guys, I'll give all these ideas a go when i get home tonight.
Just hope something works, as the weather is getting better, and i'm itching for a ride.

You're probably not as stupid as me but I had the same problem and it was just a fuse. The ignition circuit is fused under the riders seat, I discovered this whilst checking my loom for breakages and felt pretty silly.

If the fuse you are talking about is the 30amp one on the starter relay, then yes checked it and its fine.

Checked the sidestand switch, seems ok. Can't see how to get to the starter switch.

There is a "click" when I turn the ignition on, but from from the fusebox area.

Am getting well F!*&%D off with it to be honest. Massively ****ed off that doing a good thing (washing it) can result in this! So tempted to sell up and get a fast car instead!

the best way to do it is just temp. wire past the relay so then you will know if the starter motor is working, all you do is run a wire from the battery to the starter motor or load side of the relay, if it does work just hot wire it until you can change the the starter switch or relay you could also check the relay works while your doing this. I have done that a few time on other bikes

Nope, I was talking about the mini blade fuse under the seat, the one thats hiding amongst your headlight fuses etc. Its worth checking as it sounds like the same bother I had.

Yeh checked that its fine.

Well the bike has just started. I have never had to hold the clutch in to start it before, gave the clutch connector another bit of grief in the way of WD40, and held the clutch in (didn't even mean to), and bobs ya uncle she fires into life.
How Bizarre.

Will have to remember my bike likes to change its mind from time to time. Ha ha. Oh well I'm, not bothered as long as it works.

Bring on the good weather!!!

Thanka for all your help guys. Invaluable!
