nice thanks for that, although money isn't a problem i don't wont to spend big on tyres that would be as you say overkill. Cheers!

I have Corsa III's on the R1. They are good when properly warmed up but a bit shít when cold.

Michelin Pilot road 2's all the way. Were brilliant, in the dry, damp and wet on my RR.

I had Diablos on, still have it on the front. Not exactly confidence inspiring in the cold wet weather but a stunner of a tyre in the dry months.

Had a Strada rear, Diablo front. No Complaints. Liked them better than the Bridgestone 21s Ive got at the moment but different Bike, Different profiles so not a great comparison.

Been a bridgestone man for years. Their tyres have a high silica content and get warm better than most even in wet conditions. Always liked tehir neutral turn in too.

That said I recently became a fan of Michelin Pilot roads 2ct. Great dual compound tyre and wore down more even than my past Bridgestones have. Bridgestones always cup when they get low, which can make for a bit of steering wobble from the front tyre. Anyway I had Pilots on my ZX9R and they were absolutely superb and quite hard wearing too.

FWIW I've mixed manufactures tyres on bikes too. Tyres today are bloody superb and very few people will get even close to their limits on the roads.

Worth looking at the Pirelli Angels. Ive had very very good feedback from fitting them to customers bikes since they came out. Ok you have to go with the 70 profile front but ive not had anyone come in and say anything negative about that.

Wear rate is excellent, one customer on his GSX650F is on 6000m now on the rear and actually came in the other day to say he managed to get his pegs down so they grip ok too!.

Worth looking at, IMHO mileage per £ at the moment they are very very good value for money.

I've always wondered about this phrase.
I'm no Rossi but I bet you any money I could skid the front or back wheel of any (non ABS) bike.

I would love to be able to go into a corner at any speed and rely on your guarantee that my tyres will not let go.

I've just had a good part of a year on BT021's - I did not like them. For me, I found they made the handling heavy, and I did not get alot of information back to me about the grip I had avaliable, resulting in very unconfident cornering.

I have had MEZ4's on the bike, and they just had noooo grip! Great if you want to imitate nicky hayden, backing it into turns!

Metzeler MEZ6's I really liked, I found them to have plenty of grip in the wet and tyre life was long (it was 8000 miles before a screw killed the rear tyre, it had easily another 1000 miles left. The front went on to do 10,000 miles, most of that london commuting!)

I have now had fitted Avon Storms, which I really like. The feedback about the amount of grip avaliable is good. They are a stable, neutral turning tyre. Grip in the wet seems good aswell.

With tyres, as others have said many road riders won't breach the levels of grip avaliable. But the "wrong" tyre will make you feel unhappy and unconfident. You might not know what you don't like though!
