Well the bikes are off today

New sprockets with lower gearing - Check
New Rear Tyre, extra knobbly - Check
New front discs - Check
New front pads - ... Oh wait a minute...

Guess I'll fit them later today where we're all dropping the bikes off to be shipped

Getting excited now...

Good luck, mate. Looks like great fun.
Hope you've been dropping your bike on your drive to practice picking it up!! (Saw lots of that on that link you posted!!)

Well that was interesting...

First off, the new gearing makes anything more than a brisk getaway in 1st gear a wheelie, even on only a whiff of throttle with the kit on the back, it smooths out all the low speed jerkiness and even gives more pleasant rev:road speed ratios in 30/40 limits - totally changes the character of the bike for the better

Secondly, the guy who had my pads was given rears by the dealer, so it looks like I'm changing them in the Malaga car park after all

Then the icing on the cake - the guy who's transporting the bikes somehow manages to get a strap caught round the head of one of the fuel taps and pings it off, cue ~5l of unleaded filling the bottom of his trailer!! Thankfully the taps you fit to store water in the panniers are the exact same ones they use on the fuel tanks so we had a spare, quick bit of work in the car park and she's ready to rock

Guess that's why they call it an "Adventure"

Oh, and as for picking it up, I had lots of practice in Thetford the other weekend, still can't ride in soft sand, but we'll see how I fair in the Sahara...
