Doesn't matter if it is connected to rubber on at back, just check the pipe has not unstuck itself around the filler cap. They can also rot through inside but this generally means a fuel leak.

just like mine has rot through and been bashed off by the pump gonna be a pain to fix its gonna have to be braised back on sucks gonna be without the bike for a week

Well, had a look and I cant see anything wrong.

Hole beside filler looks clear, although I cant see all the way down. Lifted tank, both pipes looks secure, free and in good nick.

Oh well...maybe I am just being over paranoid. Just strange how it smells more AFTER a ride as opposed to first thing when I take the cover off.

I used a straw with some bluetak round the edge cos i is tight
