Thanks for all the input guys, I'll get some of that isopropyl stuff and clean the bike right up. The whole back end will need to come off to re-fit the original exhaust so a good chance for a deep clean.

Cellulose thinners is the best ive found, white spirit works quite well most cases as well Mike.

No it def won't bibio, the residue is white and powdery due to age and sticky underneath. Polish did not touch it and the paint on the tail piece is so thin T-cut would take it all off!

i have successfully used ''national motor products, A grade car polish'' (the blue stuff) to remove duct tape/packing tape residue. its also good on tar spots.

Please let us know how you get on, Mr Pants - I have to do exactly the same thing with my TT very soon in order to get it ready to be sold.

My gaffer tape's been on there for almost 2 years I think. Which is stupid. I should have taken it off aaages ago - the wound should have healed by now.

Petrol will break down the adhesive Mike and not dull off the paint. Should come up shiny.
