wise words there GG, my ex house mate was more moody than most of the women I know, he was a good lad but my word could he throw a strop if he wanted to lol. Yeah I think I need to just crack on with getting some interviews in, part of the interview process is a few beers at the pub to see how we get on, ideally want someone I can be friends with as opposed to just having a random stranger living here.

In my current experience:

Downsides:
Not as tidy as you'd hope! (expected to be honest)

Expect to have to 'fix' and explain everything from how to use a retractable washing line to why their TV remote doesn't work

Warped 'girl view' of fair , we used to split bills on an actual use basis - in winter obviously this was more expensive than summer (especially considering girls like heating on all the time , have lengthy showers and like lights to be on even in daylight) after many explanations that over the course of the year this evens out I wasn't believed so thought **** it let's split the direct debit it's much less hassle than explaining simplistic **** repeatedly.

Hair! Everywhere

Tampon wrappers in bin! expect a stomach turning surprise every now and then, only a wrapper but no one likes to be reminded that fanny's are evil witchcraftery which bleed.

On the plus side - not a smelly ar5ed bloke who thinks it's hilarious to run into the bathroom for his morning **** while you're have a late for work rushing shower and wipe turd down your spine where you can't reach leaving you even later for work and feeling hollow.

More considerate than blokes

Get their rabbit out on the sofa*

Have mates

Cocktails - allowed!

Not a bloke

Baking! this becomes an acceptable activity, they bake - you **** around adding an insane amount of chocolate chips....get to eat the rewards!

Rip your t-shirt in a pie, alcohol or gym related activity?! No problem, WOMEN can sew!!!

Not a bloke

Generally better

Not a bloke

*as in pet rabbit, but the scope for these jokes is endless and you can amuse yourself, firends and family for hours.

Within a week dust collecting scented (unlightable) candles had sprung up all over.

Also true, women are surprisingly less stroppy in my experience.

"mate, even if you're too drunk to lock the door please close it - a wide open front door = no insurance"

didn't talk to me for two days?!

He'd done it twice before aswell! Mong

Same here, kitchen and living room windows left open, and kitchen door left unlocked while he went on a night out. I told him 3 times before he finally said my control issues extended beyond cooking/the kitchen.. Hey ho... So maybes they're not all bad. Might just do a joey tribiani style interview..

Candles? Paul already has plenty of his own.
Cocktails? Ditto.
Baking? DITTO.
Not as tidy as you'd hope? She'd probably feel the same.

Mate, it's all down to the individual girl. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but I do think you'd have a better time with a bloke ... unless you happen upon a tom girl type into her forza and bikes without any baggage, loads of money, lot of fit mates, easy to talk to, and most of all sane.

The tidy stereo type is utter bull too, in my experience. I've never lived with a tidy girl. I've probably lived with 10 over the years and not one of them have been tidy. Some of them have thought they were tidy, thinking showing a frying pan the sink is suitable, and the grease that's left all over them is just how the non-stick works. Or manages to keep all the surfaces clean by just chucking **** into any old random draw until it's completely impossible to find anything of yours ever again. Or routinely cleans the bathroom, but that involves some bleach in the bog and a wipe round of the sink, ignoring all the **** stains and shower mould etc.

The best ever was a girl who once spilled a pint of milk on the kitchen floor when I was at uni. She then mopped it up, and then left the milk drenched mop in the cupboard, which subsequently stank the hole house out. She also once hoovered up an entire cake she dropped. My face very rarely gets to demonstrate the emotion of complete and utter disbelief, but I wore that face that day, and I wore it for some time.

Default pro's & con's of a female house mate?

I had a Turkish house mate for a year once, it was awesome.

She was ridiculously fit, worked in a nightclub and always walked in to the living room on a Friday and Saturday evening before work in the sluttiest outfits imaginable.

GET A FEMALE FLATMATE!
