Thing is fueling is the most commonly over looked and easiest modifcation for in some case big gains..regardless of whether you trackday, ride flat out or just ride for fun having a bike that you know runs the best it can in terms of performance and smoothness its a no brainer. Its amazing how often its overlooked and not considered..

and before anyone says it..yes the SV650 is worth it!.

I know its not an SV but the best one we have seen is on an S1000RR, fitted with an exhaust and downloaded PC5 map..guy said it was running great but just wanted to get it checked...ran it 172.32bhp rich as hell right through from idle..then ok and then rich as hell again...remapped it end result 197.9bhp.. A gain of 25.5bhp for £180...

Just goes to show until you check you dont know what your missing out on!

i do agree that if you have a specific requirement like more go at a certain revs for things like overtaking it would be great but i don't think the average person would see much of an improvement. for £180 i suppose there is no harm in getting the ECU remapped and yes it will be better than the stock as its mapped to the bike.

on a side note. do you use the data from the bike on the dyno in top gear or take an average of the bike in all revs/gears?

Talk to Kev at FBM performance. He was the brains behind John Simpson winning the Manx last year. He's moved to somewhere south of Manchester.

Also, Steve you put my PC5 in my K9 about a year or so ago. Got a problem with it. Won't let fuel into the injectors and PC5 is flashing red. Is there a major problem or not? Did talk to Wayne Jones who advised me to remove it and see if it runs. It does run.

Sounds like the PC5 has a fault. If you take it off and send it to dynojet they will look at it for you as we cant test them ourselves.

That's me i think

ask yourself a couple of serious questions.
do you do a lot of track days?
can you rag the titzz out the bike everywhere?
does your bike run like a pile of poo?
I have Fuel can and K&N filter. Decided to remap because the difference of comsumtion i saw with other org members and the recomendation for the guy who used to service my bike; I thought the bike was running fine (I'm not any expert anyway), but after the remap there is a considerable diference, it's smoother and the throttle response is just brilliant.

I gained around 4bhp and 20 miles odd per tank, so in a couple of months it will pay itself plus the improvement on the ridding.

I wouldn't bother with a PCIII and I have one, I would remap the ECU as it's cheaper to do and it means you don't need to purchase anything, saving even more money.

another often and never even thought of part of the pointy fuelling system is the injectors themselves. these slowly become blocked up resulting in poor performance and fuel consumption. if my bike was starting to use more fuel and not running as should then i would look first at changing the plugs and freshen the air filter and if still no joy then get the injectors cleaned. if it still runs poor after that then there is something more serious going on.

i average 60-65MPG and if the figures start to drop then it's investigation time. the only time you should get a bike re-mapped is if the bike is running properly in the first place as a re-map might actually hide other faults.
