K, as I was reading thru the thread I was thinking it could be dirty carbs, then you go and say as much in the last post. Not that I would presume to teach you how to suck an egg but p'raps its time you invested in a haynes manual and a few half decent tools. Apart from the odd mechanical course in the Army its how I learnt. As long as you do each carb separately and put it back together b4 starting the other you shouldn't have any trouble. They aren't that complex. Also, buy a few tins of carb cleaner that you can spray thru the airbox every now and then. You'll need to rev the engine a bit to stop it bogging down but you'll notice a difference.

Hope it doesn't prove to be too expensive.

i'm normally fairly mechanical and have done a few engine swaps on cars in the past... but stripping the carbs scared me a little, especially as i didnt know that it was defo the carbs at the time.

i'm going to carry out a bit of a service on it in a month or so and that should build my confidence up on it a bit.

just want my bike back now, public transport sucks

thanks for all the advice

too late for you this time, but i recommend another time give rob berrington smith a call. he's in hanwell (not too from you give/take a bit!) and is very helpful and reasonably priced. 07734 915536

a few of us on this site have used him and seems to do a good job for a fair price.

hope your bike comes back to you quickly and inexpensively.
