as for 2nd hand ones I dont know. I'd start with www.biketrader.co.uk and go from there.

How much budget do you have. I bought an Anniversay edition for £6995 unregistered. The same dealer had a K5 GSXR 600 unregistered for £5595. If you can stretch to that sort of money you can afford a new one that nobody else has raced or thrashed.

Theres not from what I've read a huge amount of difference between the K5 750 and the K6 750. The K6 has 3 or 4 more BHP. I think the swing arm is a tad longer and the forks are 41mm instead of 43mm. For me thats not enough of a difference that warranted shelling out an extra approx £1500 for this years bike. Especially when I got the K5 on an 06 plate.

Just be careful it is despite what I wrote a big step up from the SV and not one IMHO that a fairly new rider should take.

As for insurance. I'm 32 with 2 years no claims. It cost an extra £124 to add the GSXR to the policy my SV is on. I had a quote from ebike for when I renew of £537 for both the GSXR and the SV.

Both bikes alarmed and garaged overight.

I can stretch to that kind of money but I don't know if i'd be comfortable spending the cash on a brand new one. I was thinking aboout 3.5 - 4 k. I've seen a few low milage k2's for this kind of money.

The K2's have a few minor changes over the K1's and the K3's the same over the 2's. Its the K4 where the real difference is but i think i'll stick to 140bhp and then maybe next year find a K4/5 (155bhp!!)

As far as insurance goes. I've been quoted £50 to add it onto my policy till june and then £500 for the year. So pretty happy with that....
