What I would say is it sounds like the insurance in Ireland can be horrific anyway, and I'd resent paying a lot more for a bike that was working at far less of it's potential. For my money, stick with the SV650, when you've done your 2 years, derestrict it, then maybe look at a full power 1000 after that. There will still be SV1000s about (in fact there will be more used ones)

Afternoon all,

thanks for the replies. I'm not gonna bother with buying an SV1000S to neuter it. Seemed kind of pointless after I thought about it for a while, more for less and all that. You're most likely right to suggest I just hang on for a another run of months and then see how I feel once the restriction period is surpassed Jambo.
Don't talk to me about insurance in Ireland, sure like everything else in this bloody island it costs way too much. Still rain is free right?!
